The Ultimate Reunion
I must admit that I’m a sucker for all the surprise military reunions where loved ones are reunited with those who are serving our country. I usually cry like a baby and joy fills my heart each time I view one of these. Some folks wait months or even years to see their loved one. I also enjoy the programs where folks are introduced to loved ones whom they were separated from all of their lives, or didn’t even know they were related until the big reveal.
I often imagine, if I knew I would meet or see someone for the first time, how would I prepare? Would I go shopping for something to wear to impress them? I’d certainly want them to meet those closest to me, my family and friends. Maybe I’d even jot down some questions or comments as to make sure I don’t forget the important stuff in our conversation.
Well, I’m curious if we are making preparations to meet Jesus? The Bible tells us in Matthew 24:42, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” WE must be ready! Are we as anxious and moved by the thought of this reunion as we are those depicted of total strangers?
