God’s Grip
“I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” Philippians 3:12
When we are called to work for God, we must consider that it was not our initial decision. We simply choose to cooperate with the fact that He chose us, as this scripture says, “He laid hold of me.” So, when we moments of “I’m not talented enough, or skilled or trained or gifted enough,” it’s not about us anyway. What we are to preach is also determined by God, not by what we learn or desire. Our part then is to keep our hearts right and to keep in mind that we are not called to simply share our testimonies, but we are called to preach the Gospel. Every Christian is called to share their testimony, but this is what differentiates the “called,” those who are in the grip of God’s hand.
We then should never present a watered-down, diluted Word, but preach the truth in love. We are to remain faithful to the Word of God, keeping in mind that “I/we do not count myself to have apprehended, but pone thing I do…I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
