Trusting in the Dark
Psalm 37:5 (NIV) 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:
Recently, my wife and I were guests of Convoy of Hope, a Christian humanitarian relief organization, aboard a seven-day cruise to Alaska. It was spectacular in every way. However, each morning the sun rose around 4 am making it hard to sleep more than a few consecutive hours. Our cruise was during the month of June when Alaska experiences their longest days of the year. Because of the weather, there are no cruises during the winter months, but I laid in bed one morning and imagined the flip-side of the situation, total darkness except for a few hours a day.
I’ve journeyed many miles in the dark and prefer daylight. It’s difficult navigating ahead when the path is unclear. Trusting God when facing the unknown, requires complete surrender, trust, and commitment. It’s when we are committed that we can experience freedom from confusion, conflicts, and worries.
I’m so glad that there’s no area of our lives that are beyond the Father’s love and concern. Every area of our lives matters to him. We can trust him whether we see ahead of the path clearly, or we forge ahead in the darkness.
