Friend

Proverbs 18:24 (NIV) says, 24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Remember when we were kids and thought we needed to be friends with the popular crowd?  We believed that by their association we would better fit in and have influence we lacked. 

Do I have good news for you?  You are friends with the Ruler of the Universe.  He knows everything about you and even knows what your future holds.  He is the only One who can guide you and sustain you.  He is the friend that promises to never leave you, nor forsake you. 

The great old hymn says it this way…
There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:
  No, not one! no, not one!
None else could heal all our souls’ diseases:
  No, not one! no, not one!

Jesus knows all about our struggles;
  He will guide ’til the day is done:
There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus:

There’s not an hour that He is not near us,

No night so dark, but His love can cheer us,
