Draw Near
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8
As a minister, I am reminded constantly that it is essential to give people the opportunity to respond to and act on the truth. Of course, while it’s an individual responsibility for each of us – there must be a call for a response. My sermons should always lead someone to action. I am guilty of constantly telling my staff that while there is nothing wrong with Christian entertainment, everything we do in ministry should provoke someone to a response.
When the truth is presented, it should never be dismissed until there is action. That person may feel so far from Jesus, but the very moment there is an action on their part to surrender, God’s almighty power is available to them. “Come to Me…” (Matthew 11;28), means to ACT. The “coming” part is the hardest, but without doing that, there’s no “rest given.”
